Hello Readers!
I do hope this message finds you and your family healthy, physically, mentally and emotionally. This has been quite a start to 2020! When the year started, like most of us, I had a “2020 Vision”. I had big plans both personally and professionally. I bet none of us had visions of being on lockdown for months on end and being asked to distance ourselves from our loved ones.
Covid-19 has wreaked havoc on our small businesses, on our mental health and for some, physical health. I do pray that, as a community as families and as human beings, we all come out of this much stronger, as 2020 comes to an end….and boy, I am ready for it to end!
Our family hasn’t fared too badly. At the beginning of the lockdown, I felt blessed to be able to slow down and have everyone home. How often does one with adult kids get to enjoy that? I will confess, it wasn’t long before I longed for my routine. My husband’s landscape business has managed to thrive. We think it can be attributed to the fact that families are home-bound and therefore investing in their outdoor spaces to maximize the enjoyment of their homes. Family Matters Magazine has had to make a shift. We are foregoing the print version, this time around and bringing you the publication online only, for now. As for Real Estate, I am blessed to say, it has been busy! The market in Milton and area is still hot!
Our very social, grade 12 daughter has been handling things quite well, despite the heartbreak of having prom and grad taken from her. My heart breaks for all the graduates who will not be celebrating this milestone in the way they imagined. Our eldest has finally gone back to work, as a result of phase one being introduced. She made the most of her time at home, by discovering a new passion of refinishing furniture. I am thrilled to have a couple of fresh pieces in our home, as a result! Our son had just bought himself a project motorcycle which kept him busy and saved his sanity.
We are all looking forward to more normalcy. We are all craving a patio and some lakeside sitting. I am grateful that we stayed well through it all and have come out in one piece!
